How to Choose Used Gear
Used Regulators
Make an arrangement for servicing. This will tell you if anything is wrong, and any parts in need of replacement will be repaired. In this way you will also get an idea of maintenance costs.

Check whether the regulator comes with pressure gauges, compass, computer, or octopus. Each of these items will cost at least $100 alone brand new, but often are included with a used regulator, that’s is why buying used regulators can be such a good deal.

Used Tanks
See the hydro and visual testing dates on the tank, and check it has passed these tests. Also check how often these tests have been performed in the past. This also gives some idea of usage over the years. Find out whether the tank comes with a boot, and what kind of valve it has.

Used Exposure Suits
Check whether they are missing stitching or fading from use. Gloves are infamous for wearing out quickly, so pay attention to the fingers. Inspect the seals and zipper in dry suits. Are they torn or do they have holes? The zipper should work well or it isnot rusted. The number of the patches of the dry suit is also a good indicator of its condition. Check the inflator valve and the seal.
